I pity those not in Cowes this week for the celebrations of this magnificent, outstanding regatta that has sat on sailing’s and society’s radar for two hundred years. What started as the Cowes Town Regatta for watermen has been re-taken over by the sailors in its bicentennial year and I simply cannot convey just how alive it is both on and off the water.
