Kamikaze day for Luna Rossa's Women & Youth who raged against the machine
Human emotions were running raw and souls were bared on what was an utterly absorbing final day of action here in Sardinia. Max Sirena called it a “bittersweet victory” when I interviewed him and try as I could to get him to smile (he just about did), it was an uphill battle. What Max was contending with was an injust in his eyes, with his outstanding Women & Youth team being over-penalised and forced to re-start in the crucial final race of the fleet racing series. He had a point, but helicopter out and it was a hell of a performance from his superstar ‘A-Team’ that might just keep the status quo going in what is already a top-heavy talent-laden squad.
