Have your tea leaves been turning the same way that mine have? Reading them, it’s all rather good news right across sailing and at the very pinnacle, sponsors and benefactors are tipping in keen to ride the ‘franchise bandwagon’ of sporting properties, eyeing the promised pay day down the line that successful franchises can offer. Build a franchise whether that be in soccer, rugby, snooker, darts, boxing, hell…even sailing, and the keys to a golden future are yours. It’s a phenomenon, a global one and sailing looks like being a big beneficiary in the short to medium term. The tea leaves aren’t lying on this occasion. And it’s great for our sport.
