Is the RORC Transatlantic Race showing us the future...?

Hats off once again to Brian Thompson who no doubt had to issue some of his infamous ‘speeding tickets’ onboard the MOD70 ‘Argo’ as they blitzed the RORC Transatlantic and sailed into Antigua just 4 days, 23 hours, 51 minutes and 15 seconds after they set out from Lanzarote. Let that sink in. It’s astonishing really that the pond is just a sub five day jaunt these days for the big monsters, and Argo’s win over Zoulou, the other tricked-up MOD70, is confirmation that the crew of Chad Corning, Pete Cumming, Sam Goodchild, Charles Ogletree, Alister Richardson and Brian are just world-class by every measure. The work they’ve done to improve Argo’s performance is pretty special, but perhaps the real story of the race is elsewhere…
