I make absolutely zero apologies for focussing every ounce of attention of this blog on the Bacardi Cup for this week. Quite simply there is no regatta more worthy of undivided attention than 70-odd Stars putting it all on the line in 16 knots of breeze on Biscayne Bay. Nothing. Zilch. It’s the sailing equivalent of the golf Masters or tennis at Wimbledon. It is perfection personified. And on that note, after three races, El Presidente Cayard is staring down the leaderboard and issuing the mightiest of challenges to the fleet to come and get him. It is utter genius that we are seeing in Miami. It’s arguably the stand-out performance in sailing this year - and it’s only March!
