Team spirit is powerful. We all know of examples where a sports team that on paper looks like having no hope, but when it matters, performs as a unit in an act of togetherness that is almost impossible to beat.
You look at arguably the most famous America’s Cup win, back in 1983, and when you really dig into their success it wasn’t the winged keel or the Tom Schnackenberg cut sails, although they certainly helped, no the real deciding factor was the unity that John Bertrand engendered within his core team. What inspired Colin Beashel, Will Baillieu, Peter Costello, Damian Fewster, Ken Judge, Skip Lissiman, John Longley, Brian Richardson, Phil Smidmore, Grant Simmer, Hugh Treharne, Rob Brown, Jim Hardy, and Scott McAllister was a belief beyond belief. They were unstoppable.
