After a narrow defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, the Manchester United fans phoning into the Sports Bar on the TalkSport Radio Station in the UK didn’t hold back on tearing into the ownership structure, the players, the manager, the formation, the culture. It was shocking, truly shocking, and the level of bare-faced hatred being espoused bordered on the manic. I don’t know whether fans actually believe they have a divine right to their sports teams, but they sure did go for it. Owning a football club in Britain is not for the feint hearted - even a minority stake. Sir Jim Ratcliffe must be wondering why on earth he ever got involved.
