Creating Perfection
John Corby's Sparkman & Stephens Contessa 38 is one to watch...
Cowes produces outstanding boat builders. That’s a fact. And whilst production yachts are a race to the bottom using the cheapest labour possible, sailors who really know what they want come to the many and varied specialist yards housed in the home of world yachting.
It’s a long history with perhaps the most famous being the East Cowes yard of J. Samuel White that produced such classics as the cutters Oimara (1867) and Aline (1879) and worked with the great yacht designers of the day such as Dixon Kemp, G. L. Watson, and later Alfred Mylne.
