There is nothing not to love about Newport, Rhode Island, genuinely one of my favourite places on planet earth with relevant Cup history on every corner and an atmosphere to bottle, sell and make a buck or two from - if only you could. Few places capture my imagination like Newport from the grandest of mansions from the gilded age (now housing tech bros and Wall Street titans) to the beautiful St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church where John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier were married on September 12, 1953. I like walking around Newport just to soak it all up, and May is a special month with cherry blossom aplenty and the feeling of starting anew. Boats are being launched. The town is abuzz and the breeze is cool but desperately wanting to be more. A magical place.
