Bacardi Young Guns
The old timers have their work cut out on Biscayne Bay next week...
When the legacy of Paul Cayard as International Star Class President is tallied, I think what it will show most clearly is that he left the class in an even better shape than when he took it on. The proof is in the number of young sailors now seeing the Star as a viable and interesting keelboat to sail, and the number of Under 30’s at next week’s Bacardi Cup in Biscayne Bay is at 10 from an 80 boat fleet. That’s pretty remarkable for a boat that is on the pricy side - I know that you know that I would willingly chop body parts off just to have a go, let alone own one - but it’s a fascinating decision that the U30’s are taking. I think it’s a wise one.
