For most of us in the northern hemisphere, and I hear quite a few in the southern hemisphere too, January has been a particularly unpleasant month weather-wise. Snow blanketing New York, storm after storm battering the British Isles. some cyclonic weather down in Auckland and Sydney looks fresh to frightening - it always does.

Meanwhile, dropping into my inbox is the latest from the peerless Bacardi team who have just had the first of their Winter Series on Biscayne Bay in 75 degrees where the shorts and T-shirt rule for sailing applies most vividly. Oh to be there…
