There is nothing better in the world of yachting than opening an email from a reader of this blog and seeing black and white photos “that might interest you.” Often they are photos of the 1985 or 1987 Admiral’s Cup and I’m like a kid in a candy store. But what really piques my attention is anything America’s Cup related that I haven’t seen before. This happened yesterday and sent me down an historical rabbit-hole of epic proportions with regards the yacht ‘America’ in Boston Harbour in 1921 and on to the very last known photograph of the yacht’s crushed and useless beams at the Annapolis Boat Yard after her shed roof collapsed on the 29th March 1942.
